The game, developed by the 500 Miles Studio team this year, is a project they started when they were studying at the UJI, in the subject ‘Hypermedia narrative and video game analysis’, taught by Professor Marta Nuñez, head of the Communication Laboratory of the institution, who has also been the director of the Final Degree Projects.
AYA is a graphic adventure where the player controls the forensic investigator who gives the game its name. Starting from her immediate present, in which the protagonist suffers from terminal Alzheimer’s, the game travels 18 years ago to Havenmist, her hometown, a small mountain town, where the so-called Iscariot case must be solved.
Throughout the investigation, autopsies are carried out to obtain evidence, crime scenes are processed in search of clues, the rituality of the murderer with which he commits his acts is analyzed, the background of the different victims is investigated to discover why they were chosen, possible suspects are questioned to extract a confession or listen to their testimony, hypotheses are raised based on the evidence collected, and finally, the motivations of its author and the meaning of his “work” are revealed.
